Sometimes an artist is not appreciated in his or her own backyard. Which might be one reason why you didn't do so well at that last craft show-- it's not you, it might not even be craft shows. It's the people. They might not be your people. And sometimes you will discover that if you travel for shows, a whole new audience opens up. It's amazing! This past year, Etsy has made an effort to better understand and address seller concerns. One way it seeks to do that is through its new Seller Advisory Board (SAB). The board that meets with Etsy directly and those people are in charge of subcommittees on various topics. We are lucky enough to have an #ahasmember, Carolyn of The Wishing Elephant, who is on the SAB. I asked her to share what her experience was like after their first meeting a few months ago.

Brandy Davis of Pigsey Art, a lasercut wood journals and home goods shop, shares with us today her experience with finding her niche audience via an invitation to a niche craft show she had never considered before. I have been to many a craft show and I remain intrigued about the highly attended Canadian show One Of A Kind. It's set up like no show that I know of and one of (if not the?) the biggest one in Canada on many levels. So I was excited when I found out that someone I knew, Emma Gerard, was doing the show this past year and had been doing it for many years.
