Workspace Tour: Makeup and Mud Crafts

We've visited a couple maker workshops on the blog (see below) and what I love about them is that all are set up differently, suiting needs perfectly and imperfectly. Today's workspace we're visiting is #ahasmember April of Makeup and Mud Crafts, which she runs from home. Thanks for sharing your space with us, April!

Q: Tell us about yourself and what you make!
My name is April and I own Makeup and Mud Crafts. I make mostly wood home decor, pallet art, and string art, but I do occasionally make other things if I think of something I want to try. I have been crafting and making things my whole life, but I started doing it as more than a hobby a little more than a year ago.

Q: What sort of workspace set up do you have now and has it changed at all since you started?
The workspace I have now is more of a "work with what you have" type situation than anything else. I have a desk but I hate sitting at it so I usually end up in the floor when I am drawing or working on the computer.

One half of my living room is completely filled with my tools, desk, and my current projects. I am moving up a little in the world because I fnally have my own work table. It is a tiny bit too tall, and I have broken it and put it back together I don't know how many times, but it is better using an upside down bucket. My husband and I are working on turning and old chicken coop into a shed so I will have my own place to work soon.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your workspace?
Being able to work from home is probably my favorite thing. We don't have many neighbors and it is gorgeous where we live, so when the weather is nice I can go work outside and not have to worry about anything.

Q: What is your least favorite thing about your workspace?
Probably the lack of an actual enclosed area to work. I have pets, and like I said, I usually end up sitting in the floor to work, so they usually end up helping. My work stuff is also starting to take over my house, so I will be glad when I have my own area to put everything.

Q: What is your favorite tool or machine in your space?
I love my jigsaw. I have only had it for a couple of months, and I don't know how I got this far without it. It cuts doen on my production time and just makes my life easier in general.

Q: What makes you feel the most productive in your workspace?
I have other people come work with me fairly often. It keeps me motivated and makes the day interesting. Two extra hands never hurt productivity either.

Q: Where can people find your stuff?
This year I will also be selling at a few local craft fairs here in NW Arkansas. You can also find I am currently selling on both Etsy and Aftcra.
